The Home Base Educator is responsible for the implementation and documentation of an in-home and center-based curriculum based on Head Start Performance Standards in the educational, nutritional, health, social service and parent involvement components. The Home Base Educator will function as a part of the team. He/she must be flexible, have the ability to develop rapport with parents and work within the framework of the program’s philosophy and objectives.

Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education preferred. Requires an A.A. Degree in Child Development or an A.A. in a related field with CDA or 9 hours of child development. A minimum of 2 years experience working with young children is required, and at least two (2) years direct experience with Head Start services is preferred. Home Based Educators must have training in education, nutrition and must plan and implement appropriate family/parent educational activities and function as a member of the program team.
Bilingual/Bicultural in English and Spanish. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees or the organization.
