Supports Hospitalists in ensuring each patient experiences a positive hospital stay by providing expeditious, safe, patient centered care in a manner that judiciously utilizes Erlanger Health System?s resources and promotes positive patient responses concerning the Hospital Assessment of Healthcare providers and Systems survey (HCAPS).
High School education or equivalent in education achievement. Training for computer competency.
Medical Terminology course desired.
Must be able to work with people; always poised, courteous, pleasing personality, good telephone voice, and able to meet the public.
Preferred: 2 or more years experience as a unit clerk. Knowledge of medical terminology with the ability to navigate and interpret written patient charts.
Clerical experience and/or hospital experience desirable.

Department Position Summary:
The Patient Care Expeditor will assist the Hospitalists with all patient care that does not specifically require a physician or nurse for completion. Assist in ensuring a positive experience for each patient by reviewing expectations, clarifying roles of health care providers and ensuring that concerns or questions of the patients and families are addressed efficiently. Assist in ensuring the timely transition of each patient through the continuum of care.
Must be able to work with people; always poised, courteous, pleasing personality, good telephone voice, and able to meet the public. Demonstrates superior verbal and written communication skills. Ability to navigate computer systems to include order entry.
