Catawba County Animal Services is recruiting for a part-time Kennel Technician to ensure cleanliness of the facility and that all animals received in the shelter from the public are properly inventoried and receive proper care.
This is a part-time hourly position, without benefits, working 20-30 hours per week. This position requires the ability to work every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays, as well as the flexibility to also work during the regular work week on a regular basis.
Cleaning and sanitizing all kennels and cages
Providing treatment and care for the animals housed at the shelter
Receiving animals at the shelter
Inventory and tracking of animals
Assisting the public with questions and adoptions
Inputting complaints and rabies certificates into the computer
Assisting with euthanization of unadopted, unclaimed, and unwanted animals is a necessary part of the Kennel Technician position.
Ability to work each weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays, with the flexibility to also work during the regular work week
- Graduation from high school and one year of related experience and the demonstrated possession of required abilities to perform position · Previous experience working with and/or interacting with animals is necessary. (This experience must be included on application in order to be considered.) · A valid driver’s license. · This is considered Heavy Work; lifting in excess of 100 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds more frequently. Much physical labor is involved in this position, including lifting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping to clean kennels and care for animals. IN ADDITION, MUST HAVE:
Strong initiative and ability to work independently
Ability to interact positively with animals of all kinds
Excellent customer services and communication skills, capable of dealing tactfully with the public and explaining laws and ordinances
Good computer skills
