The University of Illinois Campus Auxiliary Services seeks applicants for a Part Time (.40 FTE) non-benefits-eligible Human Resource Associate position to oversee all Civil Service progressive discipline matters and any departmental leaves including FMLA, Workers Compensation and SURS Disability claims. The incumbent will be responsible for understanding and advising units on laws related to these types of leaves and will assist / oversee the processing of any applicable leaves for CAS employees.
Duties are to include responsibilities in conflict resolution, administrative support and reporting, internal consultation and training, and policy and procedure development. In regard to conflict resolution, t he incumbent will serve as the initial point of contact for conflicts within CAS units and will review, investigate, and make recommendations as to what steps can be taken to effectively resolve conflicts. The incumbent will coordinate meetings with affected individuals and communicate final decisions and/or disciplinary actions to be implemented in conjunction with the Labor and Employee Relations department. The incumbent will also provide support to administrators by creating monthly and ad hoc HR reports utilizing data from multiple University systems. In addition, the incumbent will monitor FMLA documentation and guidelines usage to ensure regulatory compliance. The incumbent will provide internal consulting / training on policies and procedures surrounding disciplinary action to department heads and managers and other staff members and will guide them in the interpretation and application of the policies to avoid violation of employee rights. This will require the incumbent to attend unit disciplinary meetings and monitor the outcome of conflicts to ensure resolution. The incumbent will recommend p olicy and procedure improvements and monitor disciplinary activities to ensure compliance with established policies and regulations to improve employment efficiency.
Minimum acceptable qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in human resources administration, labor relations, business administration, or a field related to the position . In addition, t wo years of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties is also required. This position was assigned a specialty factor that requires prior experience with Labor and Employee Relations as well.
Preferred qualifications include a Master's Degree; a b road knowledge of Human Resources, Management, Labor Relations, and FMLA; k nowledge of Banner, HR Front End, and Kronos; close a ttention to detail; the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment; and s trong interpersonal and organizational skills.
