Job Responsibilities :|
Manage and facilitate all aspects of searches and hiring activities for Academic Professional, Civil Service (including Extra Help), Graduate students, and undergraduate students, which includes: completing required academic search forms using HireTouch for supervisory review and approval (Exception Hiring Forms, PAPES, EEO Form I, EEO Form II, and Search Waivers); serving as liaison to Search Committees to provide information related to searches (recruiting/interviewing resources and tools; notification about qualified candidates; status reports about a search's progress; and approvals of selected candidates); assessing recruitment venues and determining sources to post advertisements for vacancy announcements; posting positions and responding to applicant inquiries; scheduling and facilitating all search committee meetings and interviews; conducting reference checks; extending and negotiating offers; notifying applicants of search status; and processing HRFE transactions.
Process employment changes including promotions, reclassifications, overcomps, separations, and various types of leaves such as FMLA and disability.
Develop and maintain job descriptions.
Process payroll for bi-weekly and monthly employees and adjustments.
Responsible for department’s annual Salary Planner processing.
Advise managers and supervisors and act as consultant on employee performance issues and discipline processes.
Serve as departmental expert on compensation, benefits, training/development, employee/labor relations, UIC human resource applications.
Develop and produce various internal and external HR documents and reports and detailed analysis for administration upon request.
Exercise independent judgment and discretion.
Bachelor's degree in human resources administration, labor relations or business administration or related field
Two years of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties
Must possess experience as an HR Generalist
Professional in Human Resources certification.
Five years of progressive work experience performing professional-level human resource duties.
Proficiency using UIC HR systems such as the following programs/applications: NESSIE, NESSIE Hire, HR Front End, HireTouch, Tracker I-9, and other Banner Administrative Applications.
Ability to perform data analysis by using standard reports (EDDIE/InfoView or View Direct) and/or by creating reports in Business Objects/Web Intelligence.
Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and business processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially proofreading skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Windows applications, especially in Microsoft Office.
Ability to effectively interact with all employee levels and people with diverse backgrounds.
