Antioch District #34 is currently seeking a Human Resources / Public Relations Coordinator to m anage the day-to-day operations of the human resources department. Accountable for a range of duties relating to the operation of the human resources office in such a way as to enhance the school district personnel, and promote overall efficiency of the district. Responsible for the operations of the district’s programs and services, planning and dissemination of information regarding district policy/procedures and act as a liaison to specific stakeholder groups as directed.
Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources (preferred) Advanced degree and HR certification a plus Experience in an educational setting strongly preferred, but not required Experience in labor relations, planning employee benefit programs and public relations Demonstrated knowledge of state/federal employment laws; knowledge of teacher licensure and Illinois School Code desirable Ability to work independently, demonstrates exceptional communication / presentation / public speaking skills Superior written and verbal communications and organizational skills required Ability to demonstrate a sense of collegiality, decisiveness, and is a positive role model
REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools
Accountable for the delivery of all HR functions, including the supervision of an administrative assistant and acts as resource for compensation and benefits to the business office Deep understanding of HR principles and best practices in the areas of legal compliance, employee relations, performance management, benefits and policy creation Plans and directs programs for recruiting, selecting, training and assigning personnel representing diversity of the student population, including the preparation and distribution of recruiting materials, and the posting of position/job vacancies Develops and maintains a comprehensive system of personnel records for all school employees, including data related to employment, transfer, tenure, retirement, leave, promotion, etc. via a position control system Recommends all assignments, transfers, dismissals and promotions with substantiating evidence Plans, develops, interprets and revises personnel management policies and maintains personnel policy handbooks Organizes and supervises the centralized process for assigning substitutes Chairs all legislatively mandated human resources committees Organizes receipt of resumes and online applications Identifies and implements appropriate procedures for assisting the administration in the hiring of new staff Administers the provisions of various contracts and salary schedules for all personnel working under negotiated contracts and maintains a permanent record of all personnel contracts entered into by the district Assists in the resolution of personnel issues involving research and legal assistance Conducts investigatory meetings and makes disciplinary recommendations Monitors the professionals and ESP staff evaluations, professional development and mentoring opportunities Coordinates and process all staff certification and renewal requirements Assists legal counsel in the development of collective bargaining strategy, and recommends agreements to the superintendent Explains district insurance benefits programs to employees as necessary, certifies eligibility of employees for insurance benefits programs, and exercises general supervision over all district benefit programs Supervises development of the annual seniority lists and sequence of honorable dismissal list Reviews requests for course approval for tuition reimbursement/courses of advance study and recommends appropriate action for the superintendent’s consideration Establish an effective communication plan that will actively engage all stakeholders Works collaboratively with the administration to publicize district news releases, calendars of upcoming events and happenings throughout the district Plans and directs the district level recognition programs for staff, students and community members
