The Human Resources Generalist / Benefits Manager provides comprehensive, strategic and pragmatic, customer-focused HR support and advice to Pac-12 Enterprises employees and executives. The Human Resources Generalist / Benefits Manager is based in San Francisco and will liaise with the Pac-12 Conference Human Resources as needed. In this fast-paced role, the Human Resources Generalist / Benefits Manager will utilize their strong written and verbal communication skills to build relationships within the functions that they support, and their negotiation skills will enable them to deal effectively with a variety of challenging situations. This position will report to the Senior Director, the Human Resources. Business acumen will assist them in managing HR projects that deliver true business value.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide professional HR advice on issues regarding benefits and compensation planning
  • Manage annual benefits open enrollment and new hire onboarding; educate employees on benefit options and collect and maintain benefit paperwork in accordance with HIPPA regulations
  • Submit benefit election information timely and accurately to payroll, brokers, and vendors
  • Regularly audit benefit elections against vendor invoicing
  • Execute on a transition plan of integrating all pertinent HR data from ADP to ClearBenefits. Execute and implement ClearBenefits self-service, and ClearBenefits electronic feeds.
  • Develop and manage ongoing creative and detailed ways to eliminate repetitive tasks and unnecessary data entry.
  • Deliver and maintain excellent data integrity and necessary, accurate, detailed electronic HR information in ClearBenefits, and paper and electronic personnel files.
  • Work with brokers to optimize Pac-12 Networks’ long term positioning with both healthcare reform and longer ranged cost factors in mind.
  • Oversee the 401(k) program to ensure accurate operations per the plan design. Ensure audits and testing are conducted on time and in accordance with regulations.

  • Maintain high quality and accurate paper personnel file records in accordance with privacy, state, and federal requirements and HIPPA regulations.
  • Prepare ad hoc and regular management reports to support in the improvement of HR information management.
  • Provide HR advice in employee relations issues, benefits, compensation
  • Authorize the preparation and delivery of appropriate documents regarding terminations, new hires, and changes.
  • Provide support and guidance to HR co-workers and recruiters with regard to internal and external salary surveys and compensation planning.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices in the organization.
  • Provide support, guidance, training to employees and Directors on their inquiries and ensure company policies are understood.
  • Ensure annual performance review process for employees is followed effectively and timely.
  • Support management in applying company policies including those governing disciplinary action, grievance, and health & safety.
  • Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with colleagues
  • Consult on issues related to workplace relations and performance management culture and advise managers on relevant topics and policies.
  • Support the Senior Director on complicated grievances and disciplinary casework, ensuring the implementation of policy and best practices.
  • Spearhead initiatives such as: “lunch and learn,” company events, etc. that reflects Pac-12 Enterprises culture and values.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • High level attention to detail and excellent follow-through
  • Ability to use an HR information system and Applicant Tracking system including, accessing, inputting, and compiling reports
  • Knowledge of relevant HR policies and procedures and high level of knowledge on best practices on HRIS, Benefits, and Compensation planning
  • Experience in interpreting, advising and implementing HR procedures.
  • High-level knowledge of California employment laws.
  • Ability to ease discussions with groups and individuals.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to motivate and empower others to reach organizational goals.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and reason logically and effectively within tight and conflicting timeframes.

  • University degree in Human Resources or another related field from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior work experience in a start-up environment required
