Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Human Resource (HR) Manager to oversee a large Supply Chain location including Fulfillment Center, Delivery Operations and provide backup support to multiple locations including Outside Sales Teams located in and around Dallas, TX. This position will be located in Coppell, TX.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provides insight and advice to managers, utilizing strong knowledge of the business in conjunction with HR technical expertise

  • Develops partnerships with Staples managers to gain alliances to support and achieve results within assigned locations and business units

  • Translates business needs into active HR strategic plans and ensures execution of these plans

  • Utilizes HR technology to develop reports and statistical analysis to support business units

  • Works closely with management to communicate current issues and initiatives in order to effectively execute HR programs

  • Acts as HR lead in support of business decisions that impact assigned locations or business units, i.e. RIF’s and realignments

  • Identifies, implements and adopts best practices to maximize profitability and productivity

  • Suggests and facilitates improvements in HR practices in an effort to support business needs

  • Advises and coaches managers on day-to-day associate related issues and serves as an employee advocate in the resolution of workplace issues , i.e. associate engagement, associate relations, performance concerns and counseling, policy issues, health/safety, and work/life issues

  • Provide guidance for leave management programs initiatives by working with associates, management and corporate benefits for all LOA’s, including, STD/LTD, work comp, and return to work programs

  • May conduct orientation and on-boarding of new associates

  • Anticipates internal customer needs and makes proactive recommendations for implementation

  • Oversees the responsibilities and performance of one to three direct reports

  • Conducts performance appraisals and works with associates in developing IDP’s for direct reports

  • Manages, coaches and develops HR staff; some may be virtually

  • May lead or participate in various project teams

  • Partners with business unit leaders to help define short and long-term business strategies

  • Provides and coordinates training to support managers and associates and gives feedback regarding development and training needs for particular locations and/or associate teams

  • Advises and coaches hiring managers on identifying staffing requirements; facilitates the job posting process with the TA team; and, may be involved in assessment and recommendation of qualified candidates. Ensures the hiring process meets EEO/AAP and Employment Equity compliance requirements

  • Bachelor Degree required

  • Minimum 8 - 10 years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience required

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including benefits, compensation practices, organizational development, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and respective federal and state/provincial employment laws

  • Competency in all Microsoft applications (MS Office MS Outlook) and Internet Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, conflict management and influencing skills

  • Experience managing several projects at once and being adaptable/flexible to changing priorities

  • Proven ability to manage, develop and delegate to support team

  • Experience working with both non-exempt and exempt associates

  • Bilingual (English - Spanish) is highly preferred
  • HR Certification and/or Masters Degree a plus
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft helpful
  • HR Generalist experience in manufacturing, warehousing or retail distribution
