The Human Development and Family Studies department at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Human Services Specialist II. This position is designed to function as a trainer of Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) service personnel, providers, community partners, and/or DHS resource families. The trainer utilizes best practices for preparing and delivering materials for adult learners using a variety of delivery and instructional methods. This training may be conducted at remote office locations or training sites. The trainer works with DHS subject matter experts, consultants, other contracted trainers, and co-workers to prepare and develop training curriculum. Working in cooperation with supervisors, other trainers, and consultants, the trainer provides research data on program impact on identified data.
The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively with a wide range of individuals; establish working relationships with staff, administrators, and community partners; and interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
Bachelor's degree and two years' experience as a child welfare service worker.
Bachelor's and/or master's degree in social work or related field
Experience with the Iowa or another state's Department of Human Services in child welfare
Experience in developing and conducting classroom based training for adult learners
Experience in developing and implementing online and web based courses for adult learners
Experience with system reporting on child welfare cases
Experience that demonstrates knowledge and application of Code of Iowa, Iowa Administrative code and DHS Employees' Manual
Minimum $33,676; commensurate with qualifications

Some overnight travel is required.
The duties of this position require the ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
