The I&C Journeyman (Instrument) installs, maintains and calibrates all pneumatic and electronic instruments associated with the trade. They must possess a good working knowledge of schematics, logic drawings, location drawings, vendor drawings and manuals and piping and instrument diagrams. Must have the ability to utilize all the test equipment associated with the craft.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, calibrate and maintain electronic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Utilize all available resources (drawings, manuals) in problem solving.
  • Good knowledge of electronics (solid state).
  • Ability to troubleshoot controls to Printed Circuit Board (PCB) level.
  • Good understanding of test equipment used in the trade.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and programmable logic controllers.
  • Regular attendance required.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work.
  • Troubleshoot printed circuit boards down to component level.
  • Clean assigned areas.

  • Candidate Qualifications

    Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.

    Candidates must be able to pass the PPL Montana Skilled Trades Test.

    Basic Qualifications

  • Must have HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have completed an accredited technical school in instrumentation, or equivalent education and experience (such as a completed apprenticeship program).

  • Preferred Qualifications

    3 years experience preferred in industrial instrumentation.
