The Environmental Law & Policy Center (ELPC) Communications Team is seeking three interns at this time:
1 – Summer 2013 Communications & Marketing Intern to assist the ELPC Communications Team in tasks including but not limited to the following: drafting content for websites, online advocacy, press releases, and print materials; putting together media outreach lists and making press calls; putting together marketing outreach lists and making marketing calls; assisting with social media; and assisting with events, webinars and press conferences. Minimum Commitment: 15 hours/week for approximately 3 months
2 – Spring or Summer 2013 Video Intern to assist with and potentially lead video creation projects including but not limited to the following: personal story videos for our suite of clean water websites (see www.InOurWater.org ); victory videos for ELPC’s 20 th Anniversary (see www.elpc20.org ); video news releases on environmental topics; and video interviews with ELPC’s staff. ELPC’s current collection of videos can be found at www.vimeo.com/inourwater and www.youtube.com/gwstv . Videos are shared through our other social media accounts and suite of more than 10 websites. Minimum Commitment: Completion of at least 1 video/month for at least 3 months
3 – Spring or Summer 2013 Outreach Intern to assist with marketing our suite of clean water websites currently available through www.InOurWater.org . Marketing duties include but aren’t limited to the following: creating lists of potential partners in business and non-profit sectors; reaching out to those stakeholders by phone, email and snail mail to encourage them to utilize the site; working with our partners and staff to create fresh content for the sites; creating and distributing marketing materials (e.g., postcards, PSAs, robocalls, press releases, etc.). Minimum Commitment: 1 day/week for at least 3 months
All communications internships are unpaid, unless the intern seeks and secures his/her own outside funding. We welcome university students seeking credit.
Education – Must have completed at least junior year of college. We welcome graduate students as well as professionals transitioning to new fields.
Experience – Almost every college major and almost every job require some about of writing. However, we seek interns who have some exposure to professional communications fields , not just fields that include some amount of writing. Such fields include journalism, photography, videography, marketing, technical writing, grant writing, speech writing, etc.
Goal – Applicants looking to work in a professional communications capacity, especially within the non-profit sector, will be given top priority. Environmental passion is a huge plus. (If you are interested in science, policy or law, please refer to internship descriptions in those sectors.)
