The Inventory Control / Plant Accountant is responsible for coordinating, administering and controlling inventory accounting activities, including but not limited to managing the local clerical staff and monthly financial closing, reviewing financial results with site management and providing all required inventory and financial reports to Corporate Accounting on a timely basis. Will be responsible for 3 direct reports. Company is a leader in the marketing, management, and processing of all major grades of scrap metals. This is a "jeans & boots" environment, as the inventory duties will require you to spend time in the metals & scrap yard. Company was established in 1988 and has grown to 12 facilities and 18 trading offices. Knowledge of scrap metal grading (ferrous & non-ferrous) is a plus. Company requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, with 3 - 6 years related experience in financial accounting, with an emphasis on inventory mgmt. Experience with Shared Logic's RIMAS scrap accounting software is a plus. Working hours are 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Mon - Fri.

Plant accountable duties include:
> Evaluate inventory transactions for accuracy and perform daily reconciliation between inventory control program and accounting software activity.

> Reconcile daily purchase and sales processing, using Shared Logics RIMAS scrap accounting software.

> Prepare daily reconciliation and balance cash and ATM machine activity.

> Assist with weekly processing of payroll using Paychex.

> Manage the activities of the on-site clerical staff, including back up during time off.

> Assess operating policies and procedures and identify opportunities to improve internal controls with new policies and procedures.

> Perform inventory accounting functions necessary to achieve an accurate and timely month end close.

> Exercise good judgment in analyzing and resolving accounting and operational problems and communicate to management in a timely manner.

> Work with plant management on financial related operational issues.
