Sheppard Mullin's IP practice continues its extremely positive growth trajectory into the New Year. Since 2010, the group has strategically grown from 45 to more than 85 IP lawyers. Our partner additions have come from other leading IP practices, including Fish & Richardson, Paul Hastings, Sidley, Foley, Kirkland, Winston & Strawn, Connolly Bove, Greenberg Traurig and Morrison Foerster. We are a dynamic and growing practice in a solid and collegial firm that is now the 2nd largest in California attorney headcount, after Wilson Sonsini.

We represent leading companies in patent litigation, including Siemens, McKesson, Monster Cable, LendingTree, Samsung, HTC, ZTE, GitHub, Honeywell, Walmart, VUDU, and others. We pride ourselves on being a diverse, collaborative team that enjoys practicing law and is committed to supporting and developing the attorneys in our group.

For this vibrant and growing practice, we need to bolster our associate ranks with the same type of high-quality patent litigators as we have been adding, and will continue to add, to our partner ranks. Our Northern California practice (San Francisco and Palo Alto) seeks several associates with 2 to 5 years of real, in-the-trenches patent litigation experience. Backgrounds in EE or CS are preferable, and top grades from a leading law school are required. Successful candidates will want speaking roles in cases, be prepared to learn the necessary traits to manage complex matters, and have significant client contact. Networking is expected, and the senior lawyers will support the associates' efforts. Qualified applicants should send their resume, law school transcripts and a writing sample to Nadia Ferrari at NFerrari@sheppardmullin.com . Legal search firms should confirm that they have signed our current fee agreement before submitting candidates.
