Responsible for nutritional counseling, screening, assessments and monitoring of all inpatients and outpatients in accordance with the physician’s diagnosis and applicable regulatory agency requirements. Assists with training and clinical supervision of diet clerks to ensure established standards are met.
Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dieterics Registration. Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist by the State of Florida. 2+ years experience in acute or rehab setting. Provides education and discharge diet instructions for patients and family members. Provides dietary recommendations related to critically ill patients, or those with multiple injuries or disease processes. Interacts with physicians in a consultant role, as necessary. Investigates nutritional problems of patients and establishes priorities to ensure appropriate nutritional intervention. Maintains appropriate documentation of nutritional intervention in patient’s medical records and in food service departmental records. Checks accuracy of tray assembly procedures to ensure accuracy of service. Assists with in-service training according to JCAHO requirements. Maintains an adequate supply of instructional materials for patients and staff. Assists with training, and clinical and non-clinical supervision of diet clerks and department operations to ensure established standards are met. Pursues own educational opportunities.
