Allina Commons is the Minneapolis-based headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street.   • Participate as a member of the ARS leadership team to implement the vision and strategic priorities of ARS. Determine both technical and business goals in consultation with management and make detailed plans for the accomplishment of these goals
  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and facilitate computer related activities at ARS. Analyze the computer information needs of ARS from an operational and strategies perspective and determine immediate and long term system requirements
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Allina IS and security policies. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics, and integrity
  • Lead and participate in the review of system design and code. Demonstrate expert level of general software development methods, design and programming techniques
  • Demonstrate expert level of technical and end-user documentation techniques
  • Ability to be proactive and visionary anticipating future trends and interpret the impact on systems
  • Management duties including; directing the work of systems support staff, mentoring, coaching , hiring, and educate others
  • Work with internal and external customers to create appropriate system changes according to specified requirements and interpret, determine, define, and gather requirements/specifications for application/functions being developed
  • Demonstrate technical leadership in establishing software development standards and protocols while designing, developing, and implementing new and improved processes and tools to support business and user requirements
  • Analyze, design, develop, and test reports and data feeds
  • Prepare data model and technical design specifications pertinent to applications/functions being developed and develop applications/functions consistent with design specifications and data models
  • Ability to troubleshoot any and all situations and relationships
  • Work with vendors on hardware, software, and networking requirements to support projects and systems for ARS and install vendor created software application package or tools. Correct application/tool errors including software patches and fixes from vendors
  • Develop business reporting and provide consultative support for application reporting/report writing tools. Extract and process requested data from other sources, qualifying the integrity of the data and formatting for deliver per customer specifications
  • Evaluate, review and test appellations and functions and recommend development of applications/funcitons and process to improve productivity and quality
  • Provide detailed project/task estimates and assist business customers with prioritization and prepare and maintain project plans as well as related project management documentation
  • Build and manage systems, including telecom systems, support and monitoring of hardware, operating system, database and application software and plan and coordinated activities such as installation and upgrading of hardware and software
  • Manage system Disaster Recovery


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business-related field or equivalent work experience
  • Mastery of development and ability to lead and manage projects utilizing common project management methodologies and tools
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills and ability to communicate with all management levels
  • Effective written communication skills that include technical writing ability
  • Broad technical knowledge and the ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that is understandable to non-technical users
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills with a demonstrated track record of solving problems with elusive symptoms spanning multiple environments in a business area
  • Understanding of how IS affects the organization and the ability to differentiate between IS factors and business process factors
  • Business analysis and cost benefit analysis skills
  • Ability to anticipate future business trends and interpret their impact on processes and systems
  • 6 or more years of experience in one or more business aspects of information systems development
  • May have particular, in-depth expertise in a key business area or key proprietary system
