JOB SUMMARY: Manager – Clinical Systems
Accountable for managing all aspects of planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of core clinical, physician and nursing systems at St. Joseph’s. Provide direction for and management of clinical information management functions throughout the organization. Works closely with clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of applications that support the care model at St. Joseph’s. Will directly manage the clinical informatics team, and serve as a key member of the management team within our IT organization.
The Manager of Clinical Systems will be responsible for the following: Assists with developing and maintaining IT tactical plans for the delivery of clinical information systems. Manages the plan, and Clinical Systems team to ensure that project plans are being followed and timelines are being met. Provides technical leadership and direction. Works within the clinical informatics governance program to help validate workflow, process, content and usability. Has responsibility for ensuring that these are translated and delivered as functioning, efficient clinical applications. Acts as the primary liaison between IT, Clinical Staff and Physician Staff to insure that implementations are optimized based on clinical workflow design. Assumes responsibility for maintenance and support for existing clinical systems. Designs, specifies, and helps implement integration plans and strategies by working with vendors, staff, and customers. Helps evaluate and assess new clinical information systems. Responsible for the communication of initiatives, timelines and status. Assist with hardware/device selection based on optimal workflow. Primary liaison with computer software vendors. Assists in developing, reviewing, and implementing department policies and procedures. Staff supervision.

- Experience working with a variety of vendors and implementing and supporting multiple products for all applications is highly desirable
- Proven leadership abilities and a comprehensive knowledge of healthcare information systems and advanced clinical system products.
- Understand hospitals and the importance of technology to improve patient care
- Customer focused and service oriented
- Flexible/easy to work with
- Comfortable presenting to senior management, physicians and all levels of staff
- Experience leading complex advanced clinical information systems implementations
- Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills
Bachelor's degree in a clinical discipline or other related degree required.
Previous management role required. Experience in clinical information
systems with experience in clinical informatics, information systems,
project management and system selection is necessary.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal, motivational and conflict resolution skills. Strong participatory management, team building and administrative skills. Broad based knowledge of related regulatory compliance requirements. Experience with capital expenditure and budgeting preferred.
LEAD, Core to be completed within twenty-four months.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Exposure Class I or II, service specific - various, depending on service - limited exposure to situations which could cause serious illness or injury. May involve exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions.
