This position will provide full range of technical tasks associated with planning for design and construction of campus facilities, building additions or renovations. Perform
computer aided design (CAD) and coordinate technical services to other engineers. Perform engineering calculations and prepare preliminary and final work drawings critical in construction and renovation decisions. Read blueprints, complete cost estimates for smaller and in-house renovation projects and complete site inspections and space layouts. Perform inspections of construction sites and visit proposed locations. Recommend type and extent of needed repairs. Apply knowledge of applicable sections of the NC State Building Code, structural design of buildings and operations theory behind building mechanical and electrical systems in daily execution of duties.
This position will also be responsible for Information Technology maintenance and management - Evaluate, recommend, install and maintain information technology systems that accelerate the delivery time (inception to completion) of Capital Improvement Projects. Responsible for electronic file installation and maintenance, construction plans and specification uploads, downloads and access, website modernization and maintenance, network management and security, user, facility presentation updates, and integrate new system with existing campus systems. Serve as liaison between department and Information Technology Department. Assess departments computerization needs, evaluate potential solutions, present options to management, develop specifications for public bidding, review vendor's proposals, provide recommendation to purchase. Manage installation of hardware and software, develop user documentation, coordinate training, initiate and implement maintenance protocol, integrate new components with existing enterprise. Provide technical support to users, perform network backups, and generate ad-hoc reports. Modernize and maintain website, simplify information technology data transfer for external designers and contractors, expand on-line reports for campus community, develop facility status and capital improvement update presentations for North Carolina A&T State University's faculty staff, students, and alumni downloads.
N.C. Office of State Personnel Requires:
Associate's Degree in the assigned discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.
