The current Information Technology (IT) Architect I – Storage/Back-up position will be part of a high-performance team of storage and backup architects and engineers, and will serve as a technical lead for storage (SAN) infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will design, document, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot the City’s storage and backup infrastructure, including formal purchasing and vendor management.
The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of professionalism and ethics, with a proven track record; have strong technical and project management skills and the aptitude to work independently; have very good verbal and written communication skills including presenting to large groups of people; have considerable (3+ years) experience implementing and supporting large enterprise storage systems; possess SNIA SCSP and/or EMC ISA (or equivalent SAN certifications); have experience providing SAN storage to a variety of platforms including but not limited to x86 and SPARC servers, Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), Windows, Linux, Solaris, and VMware; have a good working knowledge of network and server fundamentals; have experience with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of a variety of Storage and backup technologies including many of the following: Cisco MDS (firmware and hardware), Cisco Nexus, Cisco UCS, Cisco Fabric Manager and Device Manager, general Fibre Channel protocol processes, NPIV, VSANs, IVRs, DataCore SANSymphony-V, XIO ISE storage, EMC VMAX storage, Netapp FAS storage, and Symantec NetBackup 7.x, Quantum DXi and EMC Data Domain deduplication appliances.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Minimum Qualification(s) Required. Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or a related field. Considerable (3 - 5 years) computer systems experience in the area of storage and backup support.
