POSITION PURPOSE -

The Hardware Technician is an entry level engineering position. This position will require the associate to perform configuration and support for the physical and hardware infrastructures of both retail and non-retail sites develop skills that will allow the Hardware Technician to perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery and support; creates preventive measures. The candidate assists in store, logistics, SSC and non-retail engineering and roll-out implementations, partners with Engineers and Architects on technical solutions to business partners with minimal direction using understandable language. The ability to manage time and work independently on projects assigned is a critical aspect of this position. The Hardware Technician will travel between 50 to 75% of their time. Ability to communicate concisely with upper management and technical subject matter experts is a must.

Entry level position for Systems Engineering. The Associate Systems Engineer works to become proficient in developing, maintaining and supporting The Home Depot's technical infrastructure, including system software and hardware components on small projects. Works to become proficient in configuration, debugging, and support for multiple infrastructure platforms. Must have the ability to work with a diverse team. This level does not have sole responsibility or make independent decisions on assigned projects.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

  • Train to become proficient in performing installation, maintenance, and support of system software and hardware components on small projects.

  • Work to become proficient in configuration, debugging, and support for multiple infrastructure platforms for small to mid-sized projects.

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and support of hardware and Infrastructure.

  • Cross training and satisfactory training on new systems and or platforms.

    NATURE AND SCOPE -

    Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology

    No direct responsibility for supervising others.

    ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

    Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
    Examples include: telephone operator and file clerk.

    Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

    Must be eighteen years of age or older.
    Must pass the Drug Test.
    Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

    EDUCATION REQUIRED -

    The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

    YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 2

    PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

    Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
  • At least 2 years store experience working in operartions (Computer Room, Front End, PRO, Special Services, Receiving, Tool Rental, Vault)

  • Help Desk Experience is a plus

  • Skills associated with Bachelors degree in IT, or work related experience

  • Knowledge of MS Office and ability to read cad drawings is preferred

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -

  • Basic knowledge of the PC (hardware and software).

  • Ability to listen to user issues and translate to recommend appropriate technical solution.
