Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in information technology, engineering, telecommunications, computer science, or a field closely related to the nature of the position and four years of progressive experience in the field of information technology. Experience in the field of work related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. One year of additional experience is generally required to progress beyond the minimum level. Special note: This position may exclusively require a bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the specific functions of the job. This position is being recruited at the Journey Competency Level under the Career Banding program. The hiring range for this position is $85,000 - $97,000, and the salary grade equivalent is 81.

The Gillings School of Global Public Health seeks an IT Manager who will manage and implement security information technology resources that further the School's mission, including those for the website, mobile development, systems and server infrastructure, project collaboration, and consultation and assessment of information technology security needs. The candidate must have excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written) that expand from the executive level to end computer users. S/he must have the ability to handle multiple conflicting priorities, balanced with strong attention to detail and overall flexibility. Knowledge of standard information security frameworks is required. Experience with intrusion prevention systems, vulnerability assessment tools and event log management tools is also required. This person must have the ability to lead a team of professionals and provide strategic leadership and guidance within the department and School on matters relating to the use of technologies for software development and systems infrastructure. Security certifications or other professional credentials such as GSEC or CISSP are required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information science, computer science or a related field is highly preferred. Experience with computer forensics is also preferred. Experience with standard networking protocols and services, as well as experience with Web applications security is also desired. Higher education IT experience preferred.
