The Smart Grid Solutions group provides strategic direction, solutions design , technology delivery, and operations management for AMI and Smart Grid program. The Programmer Analyst role will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying and maintaining Smart Grid applications and infrastructure including Command and Control, Meter Management and Business Intelligence applications
Architect, design, develop and implement of java based application solutions and support existing applications
Designs, codes, tests and documents new systems or enhancements to existing systems of high complexity and scope, working with common applications designs and specifications, utilizing industry and System standard procedures, products and frameworks.
Executes performance and stress testing.
Adapts frameworks and best practices established for the project, or by the System or industry.
Works with business and technical resources in planning, developing, implementing, and supporting new or existing applications.
May perform other duties as assigned by management or as required by the position.
Evaluates latest technologies and software products to be adopted in developing applications
Adapting to a rapidly evolving environment
Focusing on process driven results – software development methodology
Implementing industry best practices in application development and support
Thorogh understanding of Smart grid and Smart metering in utility domain
Working knowledge of Customer Service, Distribution, and Transmission applications
Self Directed: Ability to make decisions with minimal oversight
Ability to communicate, coordinate, and drive results with team members and vendors distributed globally
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and with vendor resources.
Experience with and is willing to initiate sharing knowledge with others.
Ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles.
Proven record in delivering IT enabled web based business solutions.
Minimum of Seven years designing, developing and implementing large scale java applications using advanced java technologies and frameworks
Extensive working experience & expert level Knowledge of Core Java. Experience working with leading application servers (i.e. Web sphere, Web logic, Tomcat) using open source technology offerings.
Experience working in UNIX environments, data integration utilities and enterprise service bus.
Experience supporting high volume based scalable, reliable, and available applications in a production environment.
Strong understanding of databases (Oracle) from modeling, ER diagrams to identifying and resolving performance issues to support high transaction volumes.
Expertise in JAVA objects design and patterns and ability to translate them into efficient code. Must be able to read and understand application code (JAVA) for code reviews
Knowledge of best practices and their implementation in the areas of application design, performance, scalability and maintainability is required.
