As an Industrial Controls Electrician at MDF, you will have the opportunity to:
Support manufacturing by maximizing plant uptime and providing support for all facility systems in a safe manner, while contributing to corporate, plant, and departmental goals.
Work with a team of electricians and millwrights to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical problems, deliver preventative and routine maintenance on plant equipment, create innovative solutions to complex issues, and work on capital projects.
Perform maintenance tasks involving troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, and installations of equipment and production electrical systems with minimal supervision or direction.
Responsible for the design, programming, implementation, troubleshooting, control and test of VFD based automation systems used in a wide array of equipment while working individually or in project team environment.
Program and troubleshoot Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLC's and Rockwell and Wonderware HMI's.
Program, troubleshoot, and calibrate a variety of instruments including pressure, temperature and flow transmitters, density scanners, moisture detectors, load cells, encoders, Ohmart radiation gauges and Fisher valves.
Troubleshoot and calibrate GreCon QC equipment which includes radiation and ultra-sonic sources.
Maintain data collection servers and communications.
Install and troubleshoot communications related connectivity and PLC I/O field wiring.
Maintain and troubleshoot backup generators and UPS system, spark and explosion detection/prevention system including wet and powder systems.
Work with a diverse set of applications including:
HMI/Visualization programs such as RSLinx, RSview, PanelView, FactoryTalk View and Wonderware.
Fiber optics, CAT-5, N-Trons, Allied Telesis media converters and AB industrial switches.
Communication protocols such as Ethernet, OPC, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Proibus, Interbus.
Control systems including PLC5, Micrologix, ControlLogix, Automax and DCS5000 processors and I/O including digital and analog feedback and control.
Virtualization software such as VMWare Player/Workstation. ESXi experience a plus.
Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and ladder logic.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree in Electrical Maintenance/Automation preferred. Licensed Electrician a plus.
Experience: Five years of electrical experience required. Three plus years of experience in electrical design, including schematics and panel layout; programming drives, PLC’s and HMI’s. Visualization programming and virtualization software experience is a plus.
Specific Skills: Experience with control systems related to variable speed drives and industrial automation systems, PLC control (AB PLC5 and/or ControlLogix system experience preferred), conduit and wiring skills including termination, and experience with MCC's.
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NFPA70E and NFPA70B and ability to apply their requirements on a daily basis. Possess solid understanding of electrical safety (some NFPA70E and NEC experience preferred).
Knowledge and proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, ladder logic, and equipment manuals. Ability to troubleshoot control systems containing photo eyes, proximity switches, and limit switches.
Experience working with equipment such as: hand tools; drills, saws; conduit equipment; amp probe, megohmmeter, oscilloscope, and other electrical test equipment; computer for control in manufacturing plant and mill.
Possess strong mechanical abilities to facilitate equipment repair and replacement of current machine components and the installation of electrical automation and components.
Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Sense of urgency in terms of maximizing production and minimizing down time is necessary in this type of manufacturing environment.
Tasks performed involve work with equipment and materials that require familiarity with formal safety procedures and ability to follow these procedures in order to maintain the safety of the work environment.
Possess above average computer skills and computer systems knowledge, and the willingness to continually learn new applications.
Experience or ability to use a computerized maintenance management application/system.
Ability to work closely with supervisors and other departments; willingness to learn new things; be a team player/leader; good communications skills and demonstrate a positive attitude.
Self-starter with the ability and willingness to complete leadership programs, as necessary.
Willingness to work any shift, work overtime and weekends. Ability to use computerized Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Ability to provide own set of small hand tools.
Additional Requirements: The job of Electrician is a Very Heavy Duty job. Very Heavy Duty involves exertion of more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 20 pounds continuously to move objects.
Essential duties include but are not limited to stooping, climbing and crawling in and over machines for repair purposes and the ability to lift 50 to 100 lbs.
Must be comfortable working above the ground at times, and outside as necessary.
Ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions.
The pre-employment process includes completing a medical evaluation, passing a drug screen and background check.
