The work entails developing and supporting technology applications for city departments and agencies providing services to the residents of Jacksonville. This is a full time position in the Information Technologies Division with a good benefits package and flexible working hours.

Examples of Work:
Works closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions . Insure that solutions are aligned with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization's architectural standards. Follow development methodologies and standards for systems design , coding, testing, implementing, maintenance and support of applications software that is delivered on time and within budget. Create and maintain technical documentation for newly created or modified custom applications. Work assignments include development of new applications as well as enhancements and migration of existing applications. Develop applications in the mobile environment meeting the needs of City operations and the general public.

Open Requirements/Supplemental Information:
Five years of education, training or experience in applications development. A degree in Computer Science is preferred. Exposure to development methodologies and standards for systems design SDLC, and Agile disciplines is a plus Experience developing .NET applications in VB.NET/C#, specifically with ASP.NET/MVC Possess web development skills (ASP, C#, VB.NET, Javascript, JavaScript library such as jQuery, Ajax, JSON, XML, MS SQL server 2008, ADO) Good understanding of database fundamentals, and ability to design and optimize SQL Server stored procedures is a plus Experience with TFS version control system is preferred Display a high degree of inquisitiveness and an eagerness to learn at a detailed and abstract level Highly self-motivated and organized, with a strong business sense to capture and fulfill the business requirements for all products and articulate in an architecture model. Ability to work independently on small projects. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Take directives from management and perform tasks efficiently. A strong passion and thirst to keep up with new industry trends and standards Experience building consumer-facing mobile applications (iOS, Android) NOTE:
