This position involves discovering, analyzing, qualifying and presenting lead data on specific potential prospects and target markets. The Specialist uses the Internet, trade publications and other resources to gather information relevant to potential prospects, products, competitors, and target industries. The research effort leads to prospecting via email and phone to generate qualified leads which are documented in SalesForce and passed to the sales team.
The position involves two primary activities:
Lead qualification involves research of a specific target market (such as a competitors client base) or new potential target markets in order to develop a list of potential leads including the company name, size (revenue, employees, page views, # of listings, etc.), key contact info and profile of potential opportunity (for example use of existing products, etc.). All lead generation activity is captured and documented in SalesForce. The specialist will use web tools such as linked-in and social networks, jigsaw, on-line and print directories and existing SalesForce data to extract desired information and compile target lists. Research and analysis of a specific target market should yield basic market sizing such as the total potential revenue opportunity and potential client conversion rates and schedule.
Lead qualification is primarily a communication and documentation effort with prospects. The specialist calls or sends a SalesForce email campaign to prospects across North America and talks to contacts about their business needs and initiatives. The Specialist will identify who the most appropriate decision maker is in the company (usually a director, VP or even Publisher or C-level Exec) by speaking with multiple company representatives. They initiate a conversation with the decision maker to quickly introduce our products & services and to ask questions about their business needs to determine if the company would be a good fit for our products. After each contact they document the result of each call and update SF with clear and concise notes including identifying the next step. When a sales-ready lead is identified, it gets passed to the sales team.
