The Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance within the Donald R. Tapia School of Business is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure track, faculty position to teach undergraduate and graduate Economics courses on-ground and/or online at our Chesapeake, VA location.

This position requires teaching 9 courses over five 8-week terms and therefore is a twelve (12) month, year round, full-time faculty appointment with two (2) months release time to be determined in consultation with the department chair and center director.

This anticipated faculty appointment, pending budgetary approval, will be at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank for the 2013-2014 academic year.

An exceptional candidate possessing a doctorate degree with experience may be considered at the Associate level.

The position requires engaging in curriculum development; supporting recruiting efforts; demonstrating professional development (e.g., scholarly research); undertaking community service in keeping with the University’s Benedictine values; teaching on ground and online; and teaching undergraduate and graduate classes.

Basic Function:
The faculty member will be required to:
•Teach 9 classes per year;
•Advise students 10 hours per week;
•Assess, assist, and guide adjunct Economic faculty under the direction of the department chair;
•Be able to teach non-traditional age students; and
•Have a commitment to active learning in the classroom.
This position may require teaching online and/or Saturday classes.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:
An applicant must possess a Doctorate degree in Economics from a regionally accredited institution with credentials to teach Economics courses at the undergraduate and graduate level per accreditation guidelines (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Economics).

Must be able to demonstrate excellence in the classroom (on-ground and online).

ABD with expected completion by employment start date will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Economics from a regionally accredited institution with credentials to teach Economics courses per accreditation guidelines (minimum of 18 graduate semester credits in Economics).

Experience teaching traditional and non-traditional age students; online teaching experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Doctorate degree in Economics from a regionally accredited institution with credentials to teach Economics courses per accreditation guidelines (minimum of 18 graduate semester credits in Economics).
