Announcement is hereby made for a full-time tenure track appointment for the Fall 2013 Semester on the Ammerman Campus. Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs.

The Political Science Department on the Ammerman Campus seeks applicants for a full time position to teach Political Science. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of the ability to teach a variety of introductory political science and geography courses. Political science course assignments may include Political Thought, State and Local Politics and Government, American National Politics and Government, World Politics, and others. Geography course assignments may include World Regional Geography, Culture and the Environment, and Political Geography. The College seeks faculty who value the opportunity to form mentoring relationships with our students. The successful applicant will also demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence in teaching and to professional development. The successful candidate will demonstrate an openness to pedagogical innovation, including, but not limited to the integration of technology and distance education into the curriculum.

Duties will include:

· Instruction of assigned courses in accordance with the description published in the College catalog and the approved course outline.

· Active participation in departmental, campus and college committees/meetings, academic advisement and curriculum development.

· Coordinating student activities and attending various College functions.

· Demonstration of scholarly work in the discipline.
