Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
The department seeks a candidate in the field of Art History (specialization in 19th or 20th century preferred, other specializations will be considered) to teach a range of survey courses in art history including Introduction to the History of Western Art, Modern Art, and Art Survey I. Participates in college, department and professional activities such as curriculum development in art history with the possibility of developing courses in curatorial skills or arts administration; grant writing; assessment; faculty development; and mentoring student projects. Productive scholarship expected. Evening/weekend schedule may be required.
For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Ph.D. required for professorial titles. For Associate and Full Professor, the candidate must have a record of significant achievement in the field. Ph.D. preferred but individuals with master's degree and doctoral work in progress may be considered for hire as Instructor. Persons appointed to the Instructor title are only eligible for five annual appointments. Appointment to a professorial title subsequent to service as Instructor will only be considered if the candidate has obtained the qualifications for professional ranks as stated above. Instructors with ABD preferred. Three years college teaching experience preferred. Experience with instructional technology an asset. Previous curatorial or arts administrative experience is desirable.
