Full-time, Tenure-track Position for Fall Semester, 2012...................
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Spanish, with at least 18 graduate hours or approved credential in one additional foreign language; or Master’s Degree in a foreign language with at least 18 graduate hours in Spanish
Fluency in Spanish and one additional foreign language, including advanced language skills for instruction in literature, history and/or career fields. Preference will be given to combinations such as Spanish/French, Spanish/German, Spanish/Italian and Spanish/American Sign Language; other languages also considered
The ability to interact with students and colleagues in a positive and collaborative manner
Experience using technology in language teaching
Experience teaching in higher education preferred
Commitment to the mission of the community college, as well as teaching and motivating students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles; ;and working with beginning students.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Teach first and second year courses in Spanish, and one additional foreign language (four total courses per semester minimum). Available to teach daytime and evening classes, as needed
Assist in curriculum development through preparation of additional Modern Language department courses, and/lor participation in revision of current courses
General involvement as a faculty member in participatory College governance and committees, advisement of students, and professional development
Work cooperatively with the Modern Languages department, Humanities and Social Sciences ddivision, and faculty and staff throughout the College in striving for educational excellence
Help create cultural programs for the department/college
Participate in assessment of student learning
Support continuous quality improvement through participation in AQIP
