Morehead State University, recognized as one of the top public universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report, invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure-track position as Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor of Music – Trombone/Low Brass (Rank Depending on Candidate’s Qualifications) in the Department of Music beginning August 12, 2013. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities: Teacher and performer of Trombone/Low Brass. Assist in recruiting and retaining excellent trombone students. Primary responsibility in applied Trombone. Other duties and teaching assigned according to program needs and the experience and expertise of the successful candidate.

Qualifications: For Instructor Rank: Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Trombone/Low Brass. For Visiting Assistant Professor Rank: Doctorate or ABD in Trombone/Low Brass. For Both Ranks: Demonstrated excellence as a performer and teacher of Trombone/Low Brass.

Desired Qualifications: Ability to teach in one or more secondary areas. The ideal candidate is an excellent and innovative teacher and performer who committed to pursuing an active performance/creative/research and service agenda at the local, regional, and national levels.
