The Child and Family Guidance Clinic is a fee-for-service comprehensive outpatient mental health service program for children/youth and their families. The program is licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health and accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children.
The Child and Family Guidance Clinic is located at 102 Hackett Boulevard, Albany, NY. This site is approximately one-quarter mile from the main Parsons campus on Academy Rd.
The Intake Specialist is responsible for communicating with individuals in the external community and Parsons community regarding referrals and identifying service options. The position is scheduled Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm and works 37.5 hours per week.
Receive initial phone inquiries and written referrals.
Gather pertinent information as required by program in order to determine eligibility for services requested.
Consult with Child Guidance supervisors, as appropriate, to assess appropriateness of referral and assignment of clinician.
Refer to alternate service providers as requested or needed.
Identify all possible funding and service options available to client.
Collaborate with Accounting Department as indicated.
Conduct funding confirmation and obtain any required documentation including insurance authorization and approval as needed.
Gather and enter information into database including referral information, demographic data, change of status, etc.
Meet with clients/families as needed to communicate relevant information regarding Parsons’ services.
Implement and maintain tracking systems and follow up on referrals in process at required intervals.
Prepare and distribute clinical record, admission paperwork and other documents .
Develop general knowledge of all Parsons’ services in order to meet the needs of callers, including in emergency situations.
School Support Functions:
Provide support and assistance to School Support program including entering referrals, record management, data management, and preparation of records for psychiatric evaluations.
Provide assistance in the preparation of semi-annual and annual reports.
Other Responsibilities :
Prepare insurance documentation.
Prepare reports and forms as requested.
Provide assistance in annual program evaluation reports.
Access and organize routine data reports for review.
Prepare materials for special projects and presentations including proof reading, graphs, transparencies, and editorial assistance as needed.
Minimum of an Associates degree in the human services field, bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 years experience in human services field.
Experience working with families and children preferred.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management.
Requires a self-directed individual with excellent organizational and communication skills.
