For more information, visit www.transamerica.com.This role will follow and promote the systems life cycle methodologies and have a solid understanding of software development processes including requirements analysis, quality design and development, and development and testing methodologies. The Programmer Analyst effectively coordinates with co-workers, clients, operations, technical support, and vendors to complete their work and resolve issues. Essential Functions: * Participate in the maintenance of existing applications. * Design new computer applications as well as individual programs on Mainframe and LAN environments. * Participate in all phases of system development (analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation and documentation). * Assume production support duties including on-call responsibilities. * Lead/assist in investigations to clearly define business partner needs and requirements. * Provide high-quality deliverables on time and within budget. * Assist in estimating application development time. * Provide technical guidance and support to fellow team members. * Proactively resolves issues and recommends solutions for their projects and environments* Lead/participate in quality assurance functions (code and design walk-thrus, test plan reviews, evaluating feedback from business partners on the level of service provided, etc).* Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent program. * 5-10 years experience, preferably within the financial services or insurance industries. * Experience with automated document production products * Advanced working knowledge of LP shop standard programming languages and tools including: COBOL ,CICS, MVS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, Endeavor, Control-M , Control-M ECS, XML and MS Office Products* Ability to analyze complex business problems, explore innovative alternatives by thinking outside the box, and prepare recommended solutions. * Ability to effectively communicate with management, peers and business partners via a variety of communication channels. * Ability to function independently or as a contributing team member utilizing strong interpersonal skills. * Desire and ability to learn new technical skills. * Experience working in a customer oriented environment. * Experience with Docucorp products and/or experience with document automation and print * Experience with Printer JCL/JDL, fonts and Xerox functionality. * Experience interacting with Cyberlife and LifePRO products.FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Range: Pay will be commensurate with experienceBenefit eligible employees qualify for the AEGON USA, Inc. benefit package, which is a comprehensive package including optional Health, Dental, Vision, Flexible Spending Accounts, 401k, and more Additional details may be provided upon selection for interview.Transamericas pay ranges are competitive and are based on the external labor market.
