The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. is currently looking for a Corporate Communications intern for its Rockville, Maryland office. The index and data businesses are growing rapidly and NASDAQ OMX is looking for a detail-oriented and energetic college student, graduate school student or recent college graduate with a keen eye for grammar and punctuation to support the Corporate Communications team. Typical Job Functions: Edit and fact-check press releases; Compose other written materials such as key messages, fact sheets and briefing documents to be edited by experts; Monitor, compile and circulate news articles that are relevant to NASDAQ OMX; Research topics pertaining to NASDAQ OMX's index and data businesses; Develop and maintain media lists for the index and data products business segments; Offer ideas in a collaborative environment on various public relations projects; Identify new media opportunities and targets for future PR campaigns; Attend regular PR and Marketing meetings in order to record minutes and update tactical documents like news calendars and industry conference calendars; and Create press kits to share with key media representatives around major announcements and events. Requirements: Strong writing skills; English, journalism and communications majors are preferred but not required; Previous work or extra-curricular experience demonstrates qualities such as collaboration, a "can do" attitude, professional growth and creativity; and Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The NASDAQ OMX Corporate Communications team extends this internship opportunity with the goal of providing practical and real-work experience in the fields of public and media relations. The internship program strives to prepare college students or recent graduates for a career in communications through a challenging, rewarding experience.
