Under immediate supervision, provides support for the development of any current or future programs within Public Affairs division; assist with day-to-day administrative duties; conducts research, compiles information, creates & schedules presentations, and presents information. This person will be responsible for maintain division database, posting content to the website and social media sites. In addition, the Public Affairs Intern will build information packets and collateral materials, provide innovative website ideas, and assist with updates and plant tours.
Qualifications & Requirements:
This position requires full-time college enrollment in a four-year bachelor's degree program or graduate program, majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design or a related field at a local university with a status of at least junior standing and with at least one year of school remaining. Experience with PC based graphic design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and In-Design is desirable. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and web based is highly desired. All applicants will be required to furnish a verification of enrollment from the registrar’s office indicating “student in good standing” prior to employment with the District. Applicants must provide a letter of recommendation from a professor as part of their application. This internship will run concurrently with school and will require a minimum of 15 hours of work on-site each week during Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm, but OCSD will allow flexibility during final exam periods. The successful candidates will have the ability to write clearly and concisely.

Compensation: Undergraduate Program: $12.00/Hour Graduate Program: $15.00/Hour
Physical Demands Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting or laboratory, if applicable, and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds. Environmental Elements Employees work in an office or laboratory, if applicable, environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
