ConocoPhillips is seeking a highly experienced, highly qualified, motivated individual for the position of Unconventional Resource Geoscientist in our Global New Ventures team. Successful candidates will participate in exploration efforts on unconventional resource plays around the world. ConocoPhillips currently is active in Europe, Australia, and numerous additional unconventional plays.
Responsibilities may include:
Integrating basin analysis with analog studies to understand and evaluate unconventional opportunities in a variety of basin styles.
Ability to construct regional/fairway maps by integrating geochemistry, petrophysics mineralogy, structural geology, sequence stratigraphy and basin modeling.
Interacting with all parts of a project life cycle from concept through acquisition to pilot appraisal.
Working with business development staff to proactively seek opportunities for ConocoPhillips through industry networks.
Working with reservoir engineers and economists for economic evaluation and ranking.
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or Geophysics
Minimum of two years direct experience as a professional geoscientist in the petroleum industry
Master's or PhD degree in Geoscience
Strong desire to build technical skills and experience in unconventional resource plays
Ability to work effectively with petrophysicists, geophysicists, engineers, and other geologists in a team environment
Experience with and understanding of existing unconventional resource plays
Lower 48 exploration experience
Proven record of finding and developing unconventional resources
