General Purpose :Under the direction of a Safety Specialist, the intern will:
Assist in the development and administration of energy generation’s occupational health programs and work procedures.
Acquire and apply knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, practices, and procedures.
Interpret and assess compliance with safety regulations and policies.
Assist in preparation and distribution of educational materials and information, audit company facilities, and recommend actions for the correction of hazardous situations for compliance with OSHA regulations.
Compile and submit required OSHA incident reports.
Schedule and participate in periodic safety meetings.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills required to establish and maintain strong positive productive internal and external working relationships.
The successful candidate will have:
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Demonstrated presentation skills and experience with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint).
Senior level student in a Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree program in Safety and Health. GPA of 3.0 required. Previous construction experience preferred
Full time mid-May to mid-August, 2013.
Work hours will vary depending on construction schedule.
Work hours will generally be from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Significant amounts of overtime may be required.
Two internships are located in Cohasset, MN at our BoswellEnergyCenter.
One internship is located ion Superior, WI at Superior, Water, Light & Power
Some travel to company locations in Northern Minnesota may be necessary.
