Limited Internships Available at The National Education Association

The National Education Association Winter/Spring 2013 Internship Program will begin on or after January 9th, 2013 and end on May 31, 2013. Students who are interested in an internship with the NEA should submit a resume, letter or statement of interest indicating dates of availability and why you wish to intern at the NEA, two (2) letters of recommendation, and two (2) writing samples. Recommendation letters should be included as a part of the application package. Potential interns should apply online at . Positions are open until filled.

The NEA partners with institutions of higher education and other organizations to identify interns- generally juniors, seniors, recent college graduates or graduate students- who are interested in public education policy and education issues.

The intern program provides training and learning opportunities and a variety of rich and substantive programmatic work experiences that support quality public education. These experiences may include conducting research, analyzing data, writing reports, participating in meetings and policy forums, visits to Capitol Hill, and other appropriate program-related activities. The internships range from six weeks to a full semester.

Stipended interns may work up to twenty (20) hours per week and Volunteer interns generally work 25-35 hours, based on the specific program requirements. Interns may be assigned to specific departments or may be assigned to work on projects in departments throughout the NEA.
