Under direction of the Environmental Educational Supervisor, the person will develop, assist and provide creative input for designing and producing all aspects of the Environmental/Horticultural education that fulfill the educational missions of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Examples Of Duties:
Schedule public workshops and lectures.
Deliver and assist with field trips, tours and interpretive walks of facilitates and collections.
Develop short, drop-in programs on topics interpreting horticulture for all ages.
Create interpretive brochures, sheets, interpretative signs/displays.
Coordinate Mobile Garden and other educational garden programs throughout the city of Davenport.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Associates Degree in Horticulture, education or an equivalent of training and/or experience with some teaching experience.
Position requires a working understanding of horticulture, plants and other environmental issues related to sustainability and nature.
Applicants should be well-organized, have excellent communication/writing skills as well as the ability to meet and teach the public of all ages; have skills in basic computer programs such as MS Office.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include evenings and weekends.
