The Virginia Department of Taxation seeks a home-based auditor to research, plan and conduct audits of multi-state corporations to ensure compliance with Virginia Sales & Use Tax laws.

Minimum qualifications for this job opportunity include:
Considerable working knowledge of auditing principles and techniques.
Considerable working knowledge of federal/state laws and regulations.
Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices required.
Must have a proven ability to form and maintain good business partnerships with internal and external customers.
Must have proficient PC skills using MS Word and Excel, databases and other software programs.
Ability to write, analyze and interpret comprehensive audit reports/accounting records.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to travel and be away from home overnight. Must have a valid driver's license. Ability to provide own transportation for frequent travel required.
Must have access to high speed internet.

Knowledge of Sales and Use Tax is a plus.
State tax auditing experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree (with a minimum of 12 semester hours of accounting) and/or equivalent in a professional auditing or accounting environment preferred.
Experience working in a field position or experience working in a home-based environment preferred.
The selected candidate will be prohibited from performing tax or accounting services for compensation during or outside business hours. A background investigation including criminal history, tax records and DMV check will be conducted. Must complete a Statement of Economic Interests as a condition of employment.
