Custodial Supervisor 3rd Shift FacilitiesOverview Responsible for shift custodial operations, supervision of assigned custodial staff, and coordina|
ting work with other shift supervisors. Oversee housekeeping, floor care and furnishing relocation services in all university buildings.
Schedule and assign work, verify timesheets, evaluate performance and conduct annual performance reviews of assigned custodians. Train staff in proper cleaning procedures, chemical and equipment usage (extractors, buffers, burnishers, vacuums, and ladders), and job-site safety. Coordinate and provide direction during event setups, relocation of furnishings and tenant property, and non-routine cleaning. Maintain supplies inventory and ensure timely distribution to various locations. Perform minor repairs to custodial equipment and ensure that out-sourced repairs occur in a timely fashion and that replacement equipment is made available during repairs. Perform routine inspections evaluating building cleanliness and take corrective measures as required. Coordinate maintenance requirements with Physical Plant staff.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Three or more years supervisory experience in a similar work setting performing similar duties. Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines, ability to interpret and use MSDS information, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. High school diploma or GED. Ability to speak, read, and write the English language; possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; maintain personnel and business records in an organized manner; and prepare employee development plans. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work with minimal supervision and make appropriate independent decisions. Must have a valid Texas Drivers License, reliable transportation, and be insurable by university carrier. Must be able to lift carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders up to 20 feet and work off a platform lift or scaffolding of varying heights. Must be able to prioritize work requests and maintain appropriate inventory levels. Ability to comply with workplace guidelines and attendance requirements. Be able to demonstrate a general knowledge of building maintenance. Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal background check required.
Work schedules are primarily from 10:00pm to 6:30am, Monday Friday: however, scheduled hours may change for special events or to meet the needs of the facility. Duties may include weekend, holiday, overtime, and/or on-call work.
