University of Minnesota Custom Solutions Group is in need of an experienced developer to support mission-critical applications for the University of Minnesota. Initial responsibilities will include custom application development and design for University CRM system and designing/developing key business integrations with other related systems. The individual will be working in an agile development environment where code quality and craftsmanship is of most importance and will be expected to utilize industry best practices to produce high-quality deliverables.
Over time, developer in this position will have opportunities to work with many different Web/Java applications that Custom Solutions Group supports, ranging from University mission critical to custom college applications, and learn different facets of the University practices.
-BA/BS degree and 5+ years of development experience, preferably Web/Java development.
-Strong analytical and technical system skills.
-Experience developing mission critical applications in a Web/Open Source development environment.
-Strong interpersonal skills and ability to contribute effectively in an Agile team environment.
-Team player with sound leadership, organization skills.
-Database development experience with Database.com and Oracle, MySQL or related SQL-based relational database
-Experience in Java, J2EE, XML, and Web Services development.
-Demonstrated OO design/development skills and familiarity with Java design patterns
-Familiarity with all facets of SDLC - ranging from inception to deployment
-Demonstrated experience in 2 or more of the following IDEs/Tools: Eclipse, Intelli-J, Maven, TOAD, Jenkins, GIT, cvs, Force.com API, APEX or Visualforce
-Familiarity with Groovy/GRAILS is nice to have
-Solid understanding of an Agile/SCRUM development methodology
-Work with commercial and open source software packages from technical design through implementation.
-Perform impact analysis and identify effort for requested changes/additions
-Adhere to and support development and integration standards, best practices and related deliverables
-Assist in development and oversight of product migration and release management processes, including Salesforce.com scheduled releases
-Communicate, engage and actively participate as a developer in sprints designed to support the CRM Service roadmap
