GA’s Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Division focuses on the military and commercial applications of advanced electromagnetic technologies, including power generation and distribution, magnetic levitation, and systems design and engineering. The EMS Division supports government customers, which include the Department of Defense, Department of Energy and the Department of Transportation.

Responsible for applying innovative approaches to resolving unusual or complex engineering problems

Defines all stages of new product development, starting with concept created by Applied Products and Motors team and all the way to manufacturing

Leads product development team in building and testing prototype unit/s based on the concepts defined by applied products team and strives to complete projects on schedule within budget

Leads technical and engineering discussions with team members and/or vendor discussions for design changes and corrective actions

Works with vendors/purchasing department to ensure timely delivery and performance of components used in prototype and pilot development

Develops Product Specifications based on customer requirements and prototype test plan and gets concurrence from customer

Coordinates with mechanical and Software and Controls engineers to develop designs for the product

Leads testing prototypes for verifying customer specifications

Prepares and releases documents to satisfy ISO regulations

Works with Component Engineering to release drawings and documentation to prepare for production

Coordinates with respective engineering teams to identify root cause and corrective actions for a field issue

Typically requires a Bachelors degree, Masters degree or PhD in Engineering or related technical field and progressively complex engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years experience with a Bachelors degree, ten or more years experience with a Masters degree, and seven or more with a PhD

May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education

Experience in power, electrical machines and electronics engineering design in a production environment

Strong analytical skills in the application of electrical engineering concepts, theories and practices

Must be able to discharge duties with minimum or no supervision

Experience of multi-tasking on assignments to maximize high quality output

Experience in resolving vendor issues and providing direction to ensure program schedule and cost goals are met

Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational and computer skills

Must be proficient with MS Office, Visio and Project

Ability to work extended hours and travel as required

May be required to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
