SCOPE OF SERVICES
Two IT professionals are needed to provide technical support for the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) used by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The LIMS gives the Public Health Laboratory the ability to electronically track specimens through the testing process from initial accession of specimens to the final result reporting, and is critical to the daily operation of the laboratory. The software allows electronic receipt of specimen information for accessioning, and electronic reporting of specimen status and final results to internal and external systems.
Examples of duties include:
Utilize expert level technical knowledge of the STARLIMS application, including system architecture, database schema, application specific web services and integration points with external systems to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Work closely with laboratory technicians to troubleshoot and investigate reported issues. The issues may range from sample accessioning, laboratory workflow, instrument interfacing, to exchange of electronic messages with internal and external systems.
Configure application features using the STARLIMS design and configuration tools.
Manage the testing and deployment of new core product releases from the application vendor.
Be responsible for managing the release build process, including bug resolution and determining the features to be included in each build. Support and maintain the multiple application environments (Development, Quality Assurance, Staging and Production) required for software fixes and new features to be developed, tested and approved for use in the production system.
Be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating end-user support requests.
Coordinate user training for new features.
Candidates should have experience with the following concepts/ technologies:
Experience configuring STARLIMS
IIS deployments and configuration
Providing high quality technical support to super users and end users
