SUPERVISOR: Jeremy Whiteaker

LOCATION: Yorkville, IL

PURPOSE: The purpose of this job is to assure timely and efficient propane gas service and delivery activities in a safe and professional manner.


  • Greet all customers promptly and courteously.
  • -All delivery personnel will be expected to treat customers with the highest regard.

    -Delivery & Service personnel will dress professionally and conduct business in a professional manner.

  • Service
  • -Employee will be responsible for performing all aspects of Propane service work such as, but not limited to, tank sets and pickups, line trenching, regulator replacements and leak checks.

    -Employee will be responsible for painting, identifying, and general upkeep of company owned propane tanks.

  • Deliver bulk propane to customers in the assigned service area.
  • -Employee will be responsible for updating customer tank and delivery records.

    -Employee will encourage all customers to be on a keep full basis and will be responsible for maintaining accurate degree-day records on all keep full customers.

    -Change outdated regulators

  • Billing of all products delivered.
  • -All propane deliveries will be recorded on a stamped meter ticket and a delivery invoice with the established retail price will be left with the customer.

  • Maintain an accurate inventory control system
  • -Establish an inventory monitoring system for the purpose of cost control in accordance with established company standards.

  • Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance
  • -Maintain trucks to assure proper operation and delivery capabilities at all times.

    -Ensure “Customer Service Ready” cleanliness of truck, and all related equipment.

    -Maintain bulk fuel loading facility and surrounding area.Area is expected to be free of

    weed growth and clutter.

    -Bulk tanks are to be properly labeled with contents, emergency contact information

    and required safety placards.

  • Facilities – as assigned.
  • -Responsible for all maintenance, monthly inventory, promotion of new growth and general upkeep of assigned facilities.

  • -Everyone at GRAINCO FS, Inc is responsible for customer and employee safety.

    -Employee will be responsible for following all company safety policies without exception.

    -Failure to comply with safety policies will result in disciplinary action and or termination.


  • Ability to communicate effectively in order to provide customers with product and service information.

  • Ability to drive a propane service and delivery truck and be certified with the appropriate level of CDL license.

  • Ability to pass and maintain the required D.O.T. physical and drug and alcohol screen.

  • Basic mechanical skills are necessary to operate and maintain petroleum equipment and facilities.

  • Ability to organize duties in order to effectively schedule route deliveries and maintain equipment and facilities.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to provide assistance in other work related areas as required.

  • Ability to be available for daily work and overtime as needed or required.


  • Frequent climbing abilities necessary to climb onto tanks and equipment.

  • Ability to calmly and effectively use radio and cell phone communications

  • Good physical fitness necessary to perform general maintenance on customer equipment and plant facilities.

  • Extensive driving which includes sitting for long periods of time.

  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons.

  • Ability to lift products and equipment which may exceed 50 pounds.


  • Job requires mental alertness at all times to assure safety and accuracy in driving and delivering product.

  • Ability to deal with stress due to meeting delivery deadlines.


  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, toxic fumes, flammable products, and heights.

  • Some exposure to temperature and climatic changes due to weather.

  • Extended and flexible working hours, and fluctuating work loads.


  • Attend all required safety meetings


    EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

    TECHNICAL: CDL license with appropriate endorsements for this position.

    WORK EXPERIENCE Basic truck driving skills, with 1-2 years experience or graduate of a certified

    truck driving school preferred.

    Basic plumbing aptitude.

    Basic knowledge of propane and agriculture.

    C) Record keeping and invoicing office skills.
