Salary: $37,374 - $46,559

Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid New York State License in Practical Nursing. Four years of full time experience in an ambulatory setting. Experience with taking vital signs, conducting spirometry, EKG and blood drawing.
Preferred Qualifications: Additional experience in ambulatory care setting. One year of experience in a busy Family or Internal Medicine practice. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Familiarity with the WTC Healthcare Program. Phlebotomy certified. Bilingual Spanish.

Brief Description of Duties: The LPN will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Review the medical monitoring questionnaire with patients.
  • Perform electrocardiograms and spirometry, record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse rate, height and weight).
  • Perform patient injections as prescribed by the physician, take note on visit.
  • Screen lab values as assigned, notify attending physician of abnormal values.
  • Prepare patient charts and files as needed.
  • Maintain patient chart flow sheets.
  • Ensure that specimens are collected and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Record results in patient chart and logs.
  • Telephone results to other physicians as instructed.
  • Assist with case care management, patient referrals and medical inventory.
  • Participate in QI/QA projects and maintain unit for JCAHO DOH readiness.

Other Duties: As assigned.

Special Notes: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. This position could require a change to 12 hour shifts and/or periodic Saturday shifts. *Reporting site is outpatient site in Garden City however, this position may be required to provide periodic coverage to the Islandia clinical site, position will initially report to Islandia for training purposes. Night and weekend work is required. Travel between clinical sites will be required for this position.
