The Licensed Vocational Nurse, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, is responsible for the direct and indirect care of patients assigned to them during a given period of time. The Licensed Vocational Nurse is expected to meet patient care needs through the use of the nursing process. The Licensed Vocational Nurse may be responsible for the data collection, treatment or care of patients of all ages from the neonatal to the geriatric period. The Licensed Vocational Nurse must be competent in the interpretation of a patient’s behavior or physical symptoms. This information must be interpreted with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process. It is expected that the treatment of each patient be individualized and should reflect an understanding of the developmental needs and range of treatment needs for each patient. Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse License. One year current experience in patient care setting preferred; Board approved IV certification required. Must have CPR.
