North East Medical Services (NEMS), a multi-specialty health care organization in San Francisco, is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant for our Lundyclinic. Under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Assistant assists the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (daily testing persons) in carrying out laboratory procedures, preparing specimens, maintaining and up keeping of the lab. He or she will also teach or assists in teaching students and new laboratory employees.

Job Responsibilities:
Greets patients when they come into laboratory.

Obtains lab orders and posts lab charges in NexGen System.

Inputs lab orders into Laboratory Information System and NexGen, if necessary.

Informs, generates and posts patients' bills and collects cash, if needed.

Collects and processes lab specimens for tests ordered.

Performs CLIA waived laboratory tests under supervision of Laboratory Supervisor.

Assist Clinical Laboratory Scientist to analyze specimens.

Maintains and updates various laboratory information logbooks in the laboratory.

Answers telephone inquires and performs other clinical laboratory duties as needed under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor.

Participates in proficiency testing and quality assurance program.

Maintains confidentiality of patient information.

Performs other tasks as deemed necessary by the Lab supervisor and President and CEO.

Qualifications:
Posession of a Phlebotomist Certificate issued by the California Department of Health Services (DHS).

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, doctors and general staff.

Willingness to cooperate and work in a team environment.

Ability to work under stress in a fast paced setting.

Ability to attend to details accurately and efficiently.

Ability to organize work and take priorities.

Ability to type at least 35 wpm.

Basic computer skills, including work processing and data entry experience.

Bilingual (English/Catonese) and Madarin are a must.
