In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager supports the management of a defined patient care area to provide a climate optimal for the provision of individualized, goal directed nursing care that supports the mission, vision, values of The Medical Center of Plano and the philosophy of the Nursing Department and promotes, advocates for and supports the nursing staff's primary commitment to protect the health, safety, and rights of the individual, family or community. The ANM is accountable for their practice and care coordination. The ANM is expected to practice autonomously utilizing evidence based practices.
Demonstrates expertise in selecting and managing unit based staff.

- Maintains education and development appropriate for position.

Assists the Nurse Manager in the design and implementation of a plan for staff development and unit growth.

Exercises independent judgment within the context of interdisciplinary patient care
Provides care/treatment/services within the Synergy Model.
Delegates tasks appropriate to meet the needs of the individual patient and to the skills of the employee supervised.
Plans, implements, revises and delegates nursing care with patient safety as the primary goal.
Performs necessary technical skills as delineated through education, expertise, and unit requirements.
Documents pertinent data and initials appropriate reports in a concise and timely manner.
Incorporates teaching into all aspects of nursing practice.
Graduate of a Professional School
of Nursing, BSN preferred. ANM hired after July 1, 2011must have a BSN. MSN preferred.
Texas RN license, National Specialty Certification in practice area or plan to achieve within one year of hire.
2 years hospital nursing experience in area of clinical specialty
Special Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to listen, interact and communicate verbally and in writing.
Previously demonstrated management potential preferred
