The Manufacturing Technician will be responsible for incoming inspection of ceramic tubes including weight, serialization, and dimensional characteristics using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) as well as screen printing and drying of fuel cell tubes using specialized equipment. The position also requires use of gas chromatography for gas analysis and welding for attaching conductor wires to fuel cells.

This position primarily supports the fabrication of subscale test articles used for fuel cell development efforts aimed at improving the performance and durability.

Key responsibilities:

Apply fuel manifolds, electrical connections and voltage taps to the subscale articles as required for performing electrochemical testing.

Support metallographic preparation of printed and tested articles.

Perform viscosity measurements of inks.

Maintain subscale printing equipment

·

Promote process improvement for subscale articles

Qualifications and experience

Basic:
Associate of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering or Technology

Preferred:
Experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment

Detail-oriented person with experience in a product development environment

Ability to follow work standards and document quality steps

Good communication skills

Strict attention to detail and quality

Person who has worked in a clean-room environment; familiarity with automated screen printing equipment; familiarity with hazardous wastes and production safety protocols would be a plus

Person with a working knowledge of ceramic materials and processing would be a plus
