Responsibilities
The Communications Coordinator / Writer is an experienced professional with exceptional written communications skills. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience quickly producing superior quality, publication-ready articles and written materials.
The Coordinator will be responsible for creating and publishing internal communications that effectively deliver strategic company messages using mechanisms including intranet, newsletters, town halls and email campaigns. He or she also will assist with special events.
  • Works quickly to conduct interviews, gather information and prepare concise, high-quality news stories and feature stories
  • Has professional demeanor appropriate for regular interface with senior managers and company leaders
  • Coordinates production of newsletters and printed materials with outside graphic designer
  • Successfully handles multiple stories and projects in different stages of development
  • Coordinates special events (e.g., employee Town Hall meetings, community relations and facility opening events)
  • Maintains communication plans and calendars to develop and disseminate information to appropriate groups (e.g., timing, cascading plans, media choice)

Experience, Knowledge and Personal Characteristics

Minimum Experience: 5 years in internal and/or corporate communications
  • Writing and editing a variety of high-quality communications for internal audiences at an 8thgrade reading level (high reading ease)
  • Collaborating successfully with senior personnel
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • (All candidates will complete a 1-hour writing assignment prior to interviewing)
Preferred Experience (includes minimum): 5+ years of experience in internal and/or corporate communications, including:
  • Writing for public corporate websites or intranet
  • Multi-tasking in high pressure situations
  • Working with designers and external service providers
  • Coordinating special events
Minimum Knowledge:
  • Project management
  • Ability to maintain an editorial calendar and produce a high volume of articles to deadline
  • English language
Preferred Knowledge (includes minimum):
  • Experience with SharePoint-based sites, ability to publish articles and photos
  • Some graphics skills; ability to create and manipulate images using Photoshop
