Currently, Meijer is looking for a Common Area Team Leader. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for providing a quality shopping experience and financial stability through the core functions of the Common Area department. The individual will also deliver remarkable customer service by achieving Brand Promises, and develop a team that consistently meets goals for productivity and customer service.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Delivering on Brand Promises through team execution; i.e. "Provide an easy shopping experience for our customers"
  • Modeling exceptional and accurate work to Meijer Standards
  • Ensuring Planogram compliance is met in both Foods and General Merchandise
  • Ensuring the Foods and General Merchandise Center Aisle and T-Aisles are set and maintained to the Corporate Plan
  • Managing the Item Location Code System for the entire store
  • Setting and Maintaining all end caps, fast tracks, profit baskets and check lanes for in-stock conditions
  • Mentoring and coaching the Receiving Team Members to ensure that truck unloading production goals are met by Team Members
  • Managing the Back Door receiving and salvage processes
  • Promoting succession planning by providing career paths and identifying development needs for the Common Area Team Members
  • Reviewing Customer Service Survey and customer feedback from previous week or day
  • Communicating the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations
  • Analyzing production results from previous day with Team Members
  • Analyzing and reviewing planogram sets for accuracy and completion
  • There is a 48 hours (exempt) pay base for this position
  • Other daily tasks as required

  • Successful completion of all required Team Leader, Common Area & Receiving Department training curriculums for all roles
  • Excellent communication, coaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data and create a culture of compliance
  • Ability to develop and achieve production goals
  • Expert in Layout, Planogram and Receiving functions
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with customers, Team Members and leadership
  • Possesses strong leadership, mentoring and communication skills
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in computer systems and applications
  • This position may require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, squatting, stooping, kneeling and/or climbing
